It’s always a good time to think about staying hydrated and cooling down, especially when the summer sun is out. A great reminder of this is provided with the USA’s National Iced Tea Day celebrated on the 10th June every year.
Recipes for iced tea date back to the late 19th Century in the states, and the drink also has a long tradition in Europe.
In the UK, iced tea drinks have enjoyed a steadily growing popularity since the 1990s, when they began their rise as an alternative to carbonated soft drinks.
Here at Homecolours, we are big fans of the lovely cooling drink iced tea. The following steps offer a simple way to make the most of it this summer!
Making a glass of classic cooling iced tea is delightfully simple and inexpensive. All you need are tea bags, sugar, sweeteners or syrups and possible flavour infusions.
To begin; pour boiling water over tea bags into a strong bowl and stir in the sugar and honey if desired. Leave it to infuse for around 10 minutes, then strain and put it in the fridge to cool down.
Next, pour the chilled tea into a jug and stir in lemon and mint. You could also introduce orange slices or other bits of fruit. Fill up the jug with ice and stir well. The drink is now ready to serve in tall glasses with lots and lots of ice.
Of course, ice is an integral part of iced tea (along with the tea!). To ensure you have enough ice at the ready for your delicious drink, the above Everyday Ice Tray by W & P is a valuable asset to have at the ready.
The tray can make twelve squared ice cubes and is equipped with a lid that simplifies transporting the tray to and from the freezer.
And while we’re on an icy tip, the above Rosendahl Grand Cru Ice Bucket offers a delightful way to serve ice at home. Bringing an elegant look and style furnished with high gloss stainless steel with a strong lid and three separate compartments, the bucket is ideal for all your cooling needs.
Ideal for soft drinks, iced tea, and cocktails, the bucket offers the classic finish to a well-prepared drink.
