How to Cultivate Culinary Herbs at Home

How to Cultivate Culinary Herbs at Home

Sometimes all that is needed to complete a tasty dish is a sprinkling of extra seasoning and flavour. Healthy herbs such as thyme, rosemary, dill and basil all have the capacity of heightening the flavours working in both hot meals and salads.

Many chefs prefer to use fresh herbs rather than dried ones as a garnish or as a topping. They can also be used within the cooking process itself.

The good news is that herbs are easy to grow and cultivate at home and even in the kitchen itself.

Here at Homecolours we love to see ways that can reduce waste and promote heathy indoor gardening activity. Here are some designer items that can expressly help with this.

Growing healthy and strong herbs at home is made easier with the above Rosti Mepals Herb Pot. The modern and versatile pots have an in-built hydro system which allows for self-watering.

Time spent on watering is vastly trimmed down as the pots only need filling a couple of times over a week. The plants then absorb water from the reservoir collected at the base. Easy to use and manage, the pots work well for simple growth of kitchen herbs.

Self-watering is also a key feature of the Eva Solo Herb Organiser. Winner of the Red Dot Design Awards in 2019, the item is ideal for everyone who loves tasty food.

By regularly filling the reservoir with 500ml of water the herbs will be perfectly looked after. The internal capillary mat absorbs the water and then transfers it to the growing herbs. Simple, smart and effective, the organiser is a great way to grow and gather cooking herbs at home.

Taking a snipping from herbs is made easy with the Zone Denmark Herb & Sprout Scissors, black.

The stylish scissors are strongly made from rust-resistant black coloured stainless steel metal for a long-lasting solution for taking cuttings. Arriving with a little hook for hanging on the edge of pots or kitchen ledges, the handy scissors can always be on hand.

Ideal for harvesting the carefully grown herbs, the elegantly made scissors are also great for trimming any other home plants in need of sprucing up.

Also from Zone Denmark is the Herb Pot Large, Jungle Green. Perfect for incorporating with the label’s sprout scissors, the pot is ideal for growing small plants and herbs.

The built in wicks allow you to get the right amount of water to the growing plants easily and responsibly. The self-watering pot comes with a groove installed indicating the level of water.

Great for growing a bountiful number of herbs for the kitchen, the pot is a great example of how designer pots can help out at home.
